EcoHitch vs. Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch for 2019 Subaru Outback Wagon

Question:

Ok, so I reallly like the hidden crosstube for the hitch on my 2019 subaru outback. And I want to go with the draw-tite or the ecohitch and (not the curt!) but can't really come up with which one is better (if one is)? The price is obviously a consideration so is there any type of compelling reason (structurally or something) to go with the ecohitch over the draw-tite?

The EcoHitch Trailer Hitch # 306-X7601 and Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch # 76227 are very good choices for your 2019 Subaru Outback and would be my top options as well. The one thing EcoHitch normally has going for it is that is usually the only option for a hitch with a concealed crosstube. Since that's not the case this time, I recommend the Draw-Tite for your Outback.

The EcoHitch is made out of recycled materials, and has about an inch better ground clearance but in my opinion those two reasons are not compelling enough to make up for the significant price difference that you mentioned. The Draw-Tite has another advantage as well, which is that it has about an inch better bumper clearance (from hitch pin hole to edge of bumper) than the EcoHitch, which is important when it comes to accessories such as a bike rack for fit.

So really, unless the use of recycled materials is an important factor for your choice of hitch, it's hard to justify the price difference, and due to that and its bumper clearance, I recommend the Draw-Tite # 76227 for your '19 Subaru Outback.

I have added links to installation videos of both hitches on a 2019 Outback for you to check out as well. Additionally, if you plan on doing some towing with your Outback and need a trailer wiring harness, the correct fit is the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness # 118467.
