Troubleshooting Trailer Lights Not Working Properly with New Lights and Wiring
Question:
Can your converter go bad ? I replaced wire harness and lights on my lawn trailer. I wired it up according to their directions, connecting it to my truck that has a cut t connection my truck. Turned on my lights and only right light comes on. Turn my left turn signal and my right light blinks. This is my dilemma ! What gives ?

While it is very possible for the converter on a Curt T-Connector like part # C55513 or # C56513 for your 2008 Toyota Tacoma to go bad, it is important to do some troubleshooting before replacing parts because if the problem isn't the converter then you're out money and time spent on the new wiring harness.
To determine if the converter on your T-Connector is bad or not you need to take a circuit tester like part # PTW2992 and start off by testing the connector for signals (see attached photo) If none are present then you want to move to the wiring as it is coming right out of the converter. If that doesn't have any signal then move to the input side of the converter. If that shows signal then the converter is bad and your wiring needs to be replaced. If it doesn't show signal then something else is going on like some fuses need to be replaced or something along those lines.
