Normally to remove a light lens there would be screws to remove to remove the lens. If you do not see screws then the lens may be a snap on. To remove a snap on lens you could use a flat head screw driver to pry the the lens off carefully. Since I am not sure of your exact tail light assembly it is hard to say exactly how to remove the lens or if the lens is removable at all. Some tail lights are sealed to be submersible. If you want to send me a photo of the light I can give you more specific information.
If just the left turning signal isn't working it may be a wiring issue as well. I recommend to check the connections to the tail light for frayed or damaged wire. It is also a good idea to make sure you have a good ground for the tail light if there is a ground wire it should be grounded to the main ground on the trailer or to a bare metal spot on the frame. If the tail light grounds through the mounting hardware you want to make sure the hardware has direct contact with the frame in a spot free of rust or debris.
Please let me know if you are not able to track down the issue and I can assist you further.
