Should Trailer Brake Lights Be Brighter with Running Lights On

Question:

Hi when I brake the trailer brake lights come on and when I turn on the headlights my brake lights come on if my headlights are on and the brake lights are on do they need to also get brighter when I apply the brake like the ones on the car do or are they ok to not change and just stay on?

Trailer brake lights should glow brighter when the brakes are applied with the running lights on, just like with a standard passenger vehicle. If this isn't happening with the light assemblies on your trailer I recommend making sure they are properly grounded. Check that the grounds, whether they are through a dedicated wire or through the mounting hardware, are securely attached to a clean, bare metal surface without any rust or corrosion.

If this doesn't help please let me know what type/mode light assemblies you have on the trailer and we can continue to troubleshoot.
