Is It Possible To Gain Wheel Well Clearance With Axle Already Flipped

Question:

I have a parts assembled tandem car hauler. The tires are real close to the wheel well. The leaf springs are on top of the axles. Id like to lift the trailer 3-4inches. How do I determine what I need to do. Or even if its possible?

Expert Reply:

The general rule is you want to keep 3 inches of vertical clearance above the top of the tire to the wheel well to allow for normal travel of the trailer's suspension. You could try to use longer hangers on the suspension to gain a little lift but it's not really possible to gain 3-4 inches if you already have to the axle flipped. I recommend to use smaller tires. I have attached a link to all of the hangers available. If you let me know your tire size I can help you further.

If you let me know what size tires you are using, I can make a recommendation.
