How Much Distance From Truck Bed Rails is Needed to use Reese Goose Box

Question:

I have asked a few different people about Fifth wheel or Gooseneck towing with a 6 inch lifted 2015 F-250 and gotten a different answer from every person. Looking at this GooseBox, I am wondering if it would be a good and safe setup for towing with my truck. If not, can you direct me in the proper setup?

I'm not entirely sure how anybody would be able to tell you with honesty that they know one way or the other if you would be able to use the Reese Goose Box 5th-Wheel-to-Gooseneck Air Ride Coupler Adapter - Lippert 1621 and 0719 # RP85FR because the realistic answer is: "Maybe." I understand that's not the answer you are looking for but it depends on the overall height of your lifted F-250's side rails as well as the height of the Goose Box when it is installed.

If you take a look at the cut out from the linked instruction manual I added, you can see that with the Goose Box there needs to be at least 7 inches from the top of your F-250's truck bed to the underside of the trailer, and the trailer needs to be level. The height from the coupler connection of the Goose Box to the front bottom bolt where the pin box attaches is 19.2 inches which should help you determine if you will be able to use the Goose Box with your trailer.

Since you have quite a lift, you may need to lift your trailer with an over/under conversion kit, which moves your trailer's leaf springs to the top of your axle and lifts your trailer approximately the same amount as your axle's diameter plus the height of the leaf spring pack (please keep in mind this conversion kit is for use with double-eye springs only).

If you have a 2-3/8" round axle you would need Dexter Trailer Springs Over-Under Conversion Kit # K71-384-00 or if you have a 3" round axle you would need Dexter Trailer Springs Over-Under Conversion Kit # K71-385-00. I have added links to video reviews of these kits for you to check out as well.
