Trailer Hitch For 2019 Passport 2810BH Travel Trailer For 4 Bike Rack

Question:

I have a 2019 Passport 2810BH travel trailer. Would like to put a hitch on the the trailer itself for a bike rack or cargo carrier. I have a Swagman 4 bike rack I purchased from you guys that I would like to use. I am skeptical about hooking anything to the trailer bumper after looking at all the nightmares that can happen. What do you recommend and that would suffice a 4 bike rack with 4 bikes? Thank you.

I am happy to help Richard. I did some research on the 2019 Passport 2810BH Travel Trailer and it has a I-beam bumper. I recommend Curt Adjustable Width Trailer Hitch Receiver for RVs part # 13703 to bolt onto the I-beam. This particular adjustable hitch fits frames 22" to 72" so you want to make sure the frame of the Travel Trailer fits in that range. The curt hitch will give you a 350 lb tongue weight capacity which will be plenty enough to carry your 4 bikes.

When you say you have the Swagman 4 Bike rack I believe you are referring to the Swagman Original 4 Bike Rack for 2" Trailer Hitches part # S64400 which is tested for use on campers. If you let me know which bike rack you have I can tell you it is approved. Not all bike racks are approved for use on the back of a camper because they will experience a lot more bounce on the back of a trailer compared to a vehicle which could cause damage to the camper and rack.
