Does Flat Towing 2016 Chevy Equinox 4 Cylinder Require Brake-Lite Relay

Question:

2016 chevy Equinox 4cyl, AWD, ltz Automatic. Installed your Hm56108 tow bar kit, needs a brake relay rm88400 ,trying to install, but the BCM #1 inside fuse #4 controls the brake light switch, so the 12v power brake wire to splice in between comes off the BCM ,not the brake light switch itself.what I believe is the BCM is a vertical mount 7 plug item about the size of 2 cell phones glued together, left side up under dash at knee level, but each plug has about 20 wires coming out. what is the color of the 12v brake wire out of the module ,and is that what Im looking at

Thank you for the purchase of the Hopkins Custom Tail Light Wiring Kit for Towed Vehicles # HM56108 though I checked with Roadmaster and your 2016 Chevy Equinox does not require the Brake-Lite Relay # RM-88400.

There are a number of requirements to flat tow your Equinox, though this relay is not one of them. Fuses need to be pulled so you will need the Roadmaster FuseMaster Fuse Bypass Switch for Towed Vehicles - 50-Amp FMX Fuse # RM-76517 and Roadmaster Battery Charge Line Kit for Towed Vehicles # RM-156-25 (and Battery Charge Line Kit for Motorhomes # RM-156-75 if you do not have one).

Additionally, your supplemental braking system may need a Stop Light Switch if it does not have one. For example, if you were installing the Roadmaster InvisiBrake Supplemental Braking System # RM-8700 you would need the Roadmaster Stop Light Switch Kit - Chevrolet Equinox / GMC Terrain # RM-751439 to properly activate the system.

I have added links to video installs of each of these parts on an Equinox as well as links to the instructions manuals for you.
