No Manual Override with Factory Brake Controller On a 2011 Ford F-250
Question:
My trailer brakes work when I press the truck brake pedal but will not work when I push the test button or manual override on the brake box which is opposite of what Im seeing other people having issues with. This was working but has stopped and it is one of the tests DOT does on inspections. My truck is a 2011 Ford F250 Super Duty Lariat 4WD.

The issue you are having would only really be caused by an internal error in the brake controller. Therefore, the only option you have is a full replacement. It sounds like you might have a factory brake controller which I am not very familiar with but I do know they can be expensive to repair or replace so this might be a good time to upgrade to a quality aftermarket brake controller like the Tekonsha Primus IQ Trailer Brake Controller part # TK90160.
The Tekonsha Primus IQ can be installed using the Tekonsha Plug-In Wiring Adapter for Electric Brake Controllers part # 3034-P which makes for a plug and play install. That said, you would need to have the factory brake controller turned off by the dealer but this route will still be more cost effective than replacing the factory brake controller altogether.
