Will the Reese Goose Box # RP94716-61301 Work with a 2006 Chevy Silverado 2500HD with 6.6 Foot Bed
Question:
Does the adaptor work on short box pickups? Have a 2006 Chevy 2500HD. Does it extend pin box for turning.

The Goose Box will not extend your king pin any further than the OEM Lippert 1716 pin box it replaces.
To determine if it will provide enough clearance for turns, you will need to take a few measurements and make a few calculations.
You will need to measure the distance between the center of the existing gooseneck ball and the rear of the truck cab. If the king pin extends past the front face of the trailer, the distance it extends should be added to the distance from the cab to the ball. From that measurement, subtract half the trailer width (measured at the front of the trailer).
In order to have proper clearance between the cab and the front of the fifth wheel, you will need the result to be a positive number greater than 4 inches. Failure to allow at least 4 inches of clearance can result in the trailer loft striking the rear of the truck cab and damaging the truck and or the fifth wheel.
If you should find that you do not have sufficient clearance, an offset gooseneck ball might be available. The availability of a ball will depend on the manufacturer of your gooseneck hitch. We currently offer # 19308 which provides 5 inches of offset. This ball will only work with the Reese Hide-a-Goose model # 9460, 9461, 9462, 9463, 9464, 9470, 9471 and 9474. Curt offers a ball with a 4 inch offset, part # C602. This ball is compatible with the Curt Double Lock hitches only.
If you find that the Goosebox will not offer enough clearance, and that there is not an available ball to provide additional offset, let me know and we will look into other options for you.
