Roof Rack Recommendation for 2007 Starcraft 1701 Pop-Up Camper
Question:
I have a 2007 Starcraft 1701 pop-up trailer. I would like to install a roof rack for bikes, etc. and wondered if you have a system that will fit. I am attaching a photo of the roof edges for reference. Thank you in advance.

Yes, we have several roof racks that are able to be installed on pop-up campers. The SportRack Pop-Up Camper Roof Rack # SR1020 is a great option if your roof does not have curved or rounded edges. This provides you with the bars you need to mount bike carriers on the camper. To mount your bikes on the roof rack you need to use something like the Kuat Trio # TR02 (fork mount) or the Thule ProRide XT # TH598004 (frame mount). The other cost effective option would be the Swagman Roamer LT # S80510 , which is designed for steel camper tops. This rack is not designed for use with plastic, 1-piece trailer tops.
If you want to go with something a little bit more sturdy and a rack that allows you more flexibility with accessories, I recommend the Rhino Rack Roof Rack System # Y02-500B . This rack comes with 2 of the Vortex Aero bars for better aerodynamics and the track mounting system allows you to remove the crossbars and feet when not in use; the track mounts also allow you to adjust the spread of the crossbars if you ever decide to carry something longer, like kayaks. Rhino Rack makes some of the most durable products on the market and I'm a huge fan of their stuff-it's built to last and the Aerobars provide a lot more flexibility in what type of accessories you can mount on the bars than the SportRack, which comes with square bars. This system also comes equipped with locks for added security.
To carry your bikes, you could use the Rhino Rack XTray Pro Cargo Basket # RRRMCB03 which offers fork mounts for 2 bikes and space to carry additional cargo-once again, this is something that provides you with a lot of flexibility in how you use it. You can use the Kuat Trio mentioned above on the Aerobars included with the Rhino Rack system or go with something like the Thule ProRide XT # TH598004 which mounts in the same manner but provides you with the high quality and function of a Thule product. To secure your bikes to the rack you could use the Thule Lock Cores # TH450200 or add a cable lock system like the etrailer.com 10' Long Cable Lock # e98891 .
