Is It Normal For My Cargo Carrier To Sway On The Back Of My Vehicle

I just bought this item and noticed the shank moves in the receiver and the basket moves as well. Is this normal for this hitch carrier or all hitch carriers?

You may experience some sway with the Curt Carrier part # C18151 but it should not be significant. I have attached a video that shows the Curt Cargo Carrier on a road test. If you notice the basket does sway a bit but not aggressively. Please compare the amount of sway you are experiencing to the video. You may be able to tighten up the hardware on the carrier if the shank is showing a lot of movement in the hitch.

I also recommend to add an Roadmaster Quiet hitch part # RM-061 for 2 inch hitches. This should help to tighten up the amount of play between the hitch and the shank of the carrier to reduce sway and the annoying rattling noise you are most likely experiencing.
