How To Convert a Euro 13-Pin to a US 5-Way Trailer Connector
Question:
Hello I have read some of your expert help on adapting 4 pin straight car wiring to a 13 pin European trailer. I have a 2011 VW Jetta Non-TDI. I have seen I could use the Universal 4-way flat tail light converter to wire into a 13 pin European plug. My trailer has reverse lights, which are not part of the 4 Pin wiring. What would be your suggestion if I were to use a European 13 pin plug wired into the Part # C56175 adapter connected into your T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole flat Trailer Connector? Thanks

If the trailer has reverse lights then you will want to use the Modulite Protector 5-Way Flat part # 119177KIT instead of the Upgraded Tail Light Converter part # C56175 on your 2011 Volkswagen Jetta. Then in order to make an adapter that attaches the Euro 13-Pin connector on your trailer to the US 5-Way connector on your vehicle you will need the following:
Hopkins Wiring Harness with 5-Pole part # HM37918
Curt 2-To-3-Wire Tail Light Converter part # C56196
Vehicle Side Euro 13-Pin Connector (Not Offered)
Deka Heat Shrink Butt Connectors part # DW05744-10
