Solution for 1978 Prowler Travel Trailer with Bad Trailer Magnets  

Question:

Marked Dayton Fayette drums 9349 w1/w2. I know how to test them and found one open and of course not working. My magnet doesnt look like the ones you sell. The magnet is round with a hole in the middle on a shaft with a spring behind it but also an oval arm mount to a post with a press fit cap nut. The size is approximately, magnet 2 1/2inch round half inch hole the mounting arm on 1/4 inch shaft with press on nutinch and mounting hole to magnet hole 1 3/4 inch on center. Are any of your magnets compatable to replace my bad one? By the way for my dual axle four brakes each magnet is about 3.5 ohms for just under one ohm total for approximately 14 amps by my calculation.

I wish we had an easy solution, but we don't have magnets that will fit your application and we don't have a way to replace just the brake assemblies either as since what you have is welded directly to the trailer axle.

So it will end up being easiest if you look into replacing the axle you have since none of the components of it are replaceable.

All is not lost as I can help if you are interested in upgrading your axles. When you upgrade your axles you can update your brakes and hubs to the options currently available so you won't have any improper fits that could cause issues. I've linked the page to all the axle options we carry to assist. You will want to measure from spring seat to spring seat for your leaf spring connection points and then from hub face to hub face so you know the width you desire for frame clearances. We have some axle-less suspension options available for fits that don't have the spring seat locations and hub face dimensions needed for a customizable fit.
