Recommended Platform Bike Rack for an R-Pod 179

Question:

Hi. We have an R-Pod 179 and would like to transport 2 lightweight 23 lbs each bikes. I tried my Yakima hanging rack on trailer rear, but ended up with some bike damage bounced and bumped. I’m thinking a platform rack like Kuat Sherpa or Yakima T2 might work, but am concerned about rear trailer hitch location - the bouncing aspect, and whether the hitch will not break. Are there better options in your opinion. Tow vehicle is an Audi Q5 TDI. Thanks for your help!

While the Yakima, and Thule bikes racks are phenomenal options, none of these companies have tested and approved any of their platform racks for use on a travel trailer like your R-Pod 179. I do have a similar solution for you though with the Kuat Transfer V2 # KU84FR.

This bike rack secures bikes by the wheel like the Kuat Sherpa so it keeps your bikes from moving around like you found with your hanging rack, plus it has been tested and approved for the extra movement at the back of a travel trailer. The rack itself weighs 37 lbs but it also has a weight capacity of 60 lbs per bike and comes with a limited lifetime warranty so you know it was built to last. As long as the trailer hitch on your R-Pod is rated for at least 157 lbs you should have no problems with it breaking.

I have attached a review video as well as a test course video for you to check out.
