Ladder Rack Recommendation for 2014 Toyota Tacoma Long Bed for Longer Kayaks

Question:

Hello, I have a 2014 Toyota Tacoma, Double Cab, Long Bed Truck. I am looking for a solution to haul up to 3 kayaks while at the same time towing my camping trailer. Two of my kayaks are Native Manta Ray Propels, about 12 feet long and 70lbs. I like the idea of the Overhaul HD because it appears it can mostly be removed when not using it. With a 12 foot kayak can I place them forward enough on these racks to not interfere with my trailer....or would I need an additional rack over the cab? Would you recommend laying them flat or using some sort of j-cradle? Thanks so much for any input.

For as long of kayaks as you have your best bet is a taller ladder rack which will allow a portion of the kayaks to fit over the cab of the truck as well. For that your best option is the Thule Xsporter part # TH500XTB-THXK3 which has an adjustable height and is easily removed and installed.

If you want to go the over the cab extension you'd instead need the Thule TracRac part # TH27000XT-TAEX which will allow the boats to be carried even further forward.
