Ram Powered Jack Just Spins In Place

Question:

So our jack works but when I go to lower it it just spins. Would there be a bearing bad or something? I tried to take it apart to see but I can’t see inside the stand. Ram powered jack 3,500 lbs

It sounds like there is a bad main screw inside the RAM jack part # EJ-3520-BBX is damaged. Powered jacks have a main screw that turns inside a threaded shaft that allows the jack to rise or lower. When the shaft breaks the screw just allows the jack to spin in place. Unfortunately there is not a repair kit that will allow you to fix the inner workings of the powered jack.

It would be easy to just replace this with the same etrailer # EJ-3520-BBX tongue jack. You could also consider the Lippert #LC643589 Smart Jack that remembers your unhitched height and automatcially moves into position when told.
