Troubleshooting Lippert Electric Trailer Jack That Works Only Sometimes

Question:

QUESTION.......What should I do before I take camper to the shop.. powered tongue hitch works sometimes. I can manually get it to go up and down. While manually making it go up or down, I can use the switch and it will work for a second. Help!!

The erratic nature for the operation of your Lippert Electric Trailer Jack # LC285318 sounds like it could be the result of a weak power source or a bad ground.

Make sure that the the battery you are using to power the jack is fully charged and that all your connections are secure. Check to make sure there aren't any pinched or exposed areas on the power wire that could be causing an issue.

Also verify that the ground connection is sound. This particular jack grounds through the mounting hardware so you will want to look for any corrosion or debris that might be built up between the mounting plate and the trailer frame where it attaches, cleaning out/sanding down as needed.

If this doesn't resolve the issue please let me know and we can continue to troubleshoot.
