Ramp Springs for Flatbed Car Hauler Trailer with 220-lb Ramp
Question:
Hello, I have a open flatbed car hauler trailer. I will be making a special ramp in the back all the way across the trailer 82inch. It will be heavy enough for tractors and smooth enough to load small equipment like riding lawn mowers. It will be around 200 220 lbs when complete. 5ft long. What size and how many springs will I need to build it with? thanks

Expert Reply:
For your 82-inch wide ramp whose weight you estimate at about 220-lbs, the 2K ramp springs # RS16933LH and # RS16933RH should work well as long as you have a 1-1/2-inch round shaft to match the springs' inside diameter. If you check out the linked video on these items you'll see that they worked well on smaller ramps that were a bit lighter than your ramp will be. Since the springs provided a bit more tension than necessary in that application they should be perfect for yours.
