Tekonsha Prodigy P2 Flashing Underscores/Dashes Troubleshooting
Question:
I have a Prodigy P2 that is not currently connected to a trailer. For several days now it boots up fine and goes to the blank screen with the single dot in the middle boost at level 0. After driving a while, I look down and notice the controller is flashing literally _._, underscore, dot, underscore, in some sort of rhythmic pattern, Im thinking its trying to indicate digits. Since Im driving, I cant count the number of flashes but it seems to be a repeating pattern. Several people have asked this already on your site, but you only quote the instructions which do not address the flashing underscores. None of the error codes listed in the instructions appear, just the flashing underscores. Do you have any additional insight?

Sounds like you actually have an original Prodigy brake controller and not the P2 and the issue is that your controller is not level enough. Is the color of the test on the display red or blue? If red it's old Prodigy # 90185 and blue it's a P2. The dashes indicate on the original Prodigy that the controller is not level enough front to back. Try adjusting the angle of the controller and you should see the dashes disappear.
One of the updates to the P2 over the original was that more mounting angle flexibility is allowed.
