With 4 wire system there is no blue wire. all lights on back are red Your yellow wire is left turn signal and also your brake light. Green wire is right signal light and also your brake light. When 4 wire is plugged into 5 wire all lights on back of trailer must be all red. Can not have yellow used as a brake light. As you noted, trailers made for the U.S. use a combined wiring scheme for their lighting. Stop and turn signals for each side of the trailer are combined into one circuit and one wire. European wiring is different; it has all separate circuits. This is why there are no simple adapters that can join the two wiring standards and why converters are needed.

Since your German-made Rewaco trike would be wired to the European standard you will need a converter to make it compatible with your U.S. standard Time Out trailer. I contacted Time Out and they confirmed that their current trailers use a 5-pole flat type connector which has stop and turn signals combined.

You will need to use the Brite Lite converter # RM-732. This will take in the separate stop and turn signals from the motorcycle and combine them for the trailer. The wires on the right side of the converter will connect to your Rewaco wiring: RED wire to brake light; YELLOW wire to LEFT turn light; GREEN wire to RIGHT turn light. The yellow and green wires on the output (left) side of the converter will send the combined stop/turn lights to the trailer.

If your Trailer has brakes and the trike has a trailer brake controller installed then you will need to use connectors that provide the additional circuit for the trailer brakes. 5-pole vehicle connector # HM47900 will mate with the 5-pole connector on the trailer.
