Why Would Circuit Board of MaxxAir Roof Vent Fan Blow When Connected to Outlet Power

Which specific MaxxAir fan are you using? The part number you referenced is for 12 volt applications and you are mentioning AC type power sources which will not be compatible.

Yes, the fan you have should run from a battery. But if instead you'd rather use the power from an outlet we have the Ventline Roof Vent w/ 110V Fan # V2128SP-01 which would use the power source from an outlet (AC power). With AC power you can't reverse the polarity to reverse the direction of the fan also. This would be your best option.
