Recommended Roof Rack for 2010 Chevy HHR

Hi, after realizing I had one of the worst vehicles to mount a rack system haha, I still want to set one up. What would be your best suggestion for direct roof mount. Looking around I am thinking the Thule 3114 mount kit with the podium 460...I really don’t need the aero blades, square load bars is fine. What do you think? Ty

For a square bar roof rack for your 2010 HHR with raised roof side rails we do have options from Thule and Inno which use either 42-inch or 43-inch bars. These can be seen on the linked page along with all other rack brands and rack types.

For a cost effective Thule option I like the Rapid Crossroad setup with 43-inch square bars; this consists of parts # TH712100 and # TH710401. For the lowest-cost square bar rack Inno offers 42-inch bar setup using parts # INB107 and # INFR. Do note the weight rating is substantially higher for the Thule rack - 165-lbs vs. 100-lbs for the Inno.

Aero-style bars are indeed quieter than square bars and we have such racks from Thule but also from other makers whose aero racks do not cost too much more than the basic square bar racks. A great example of a cost-effective aero rack is the Rhino-Rack Vortex made of parts # RRVA106B-2 and # RRSX100. This black bar rack is very popular for its performance and value.
