Will Malone DownLoader Fit Aero Crossbars on a 2014 Subaru Forester

Question:

Hey Jon, so I got the downloaders and when I go to lock them in the J position they are touching and won't lock. It's basically making the loop part (where you would put the straps in) touch when they come back. I took a photo for reference. It's the Subaru aero cross bars have that long piece of plastic or whatever it is that is making it so they won't fit properly. Does Malone make an affordable crossbar?

The Malone DownLoader Kayak Carrier with Tie-Downs # MPG114MD is designed to fit round, square, aero, elliptical, and most factory crossbars so it should fit the aero style crossbars on your 2014 Subaru Forester. The Malone AirFlow2 crossbars are 3" wide x 1" tall and the DownLoader will fit this so you can use these dimensions as a reference plus if you have the T-slots on your crossbars you can use the Fit Kit # MPG8287 and not have to worry about the clamps fitting at all.

If you can let me know what was specifically said about the DownLoader not fitting I can address that directly for you. One of the best things about this carrier is that ability to add the load assist # MPG351XL so that you can load your kayak much easier.

A review video has been linked for you to reference.

Yes they do! Malone offers their aero-style roof rack with 50" # MPG215 or 58" # MPG216 crossbars that fit your 2014 Subaru Forester. Either one should have enough room for 2 of the Malone DownLoader Kayak Carrier with Tie-Downs # MPG114MD so it all depends on if you want the extra crossbar space or not. In my opinion you can only benefit from more real estate so I recommend the 58" option. I have attached an installation video of these on a 2015 Subaru Forester as well as a photo of them installed on an '18 Forester that you can use as a reference.
