Fifth Wheel Towing Capacity of 2008 Chevy Silverado K-2500 4WD Diesel Extended Cab
Question:
I am trying to figure out how much it will pull. I am fixing to buy a 5th wheel. It is a 2008 4x4, 4 door, regular bed, diesel.

Based on the online owner's manual, a 2008 Chevy Silverado K-2500 4WD Extended Cab with a standard bed and 6.0L V8 will have a towing capacity of 9,900 lbs if you have a 3.73 axle ratio or 12,400 lbs if you have a 4.10 axle ratio. I strongly recommend taking a look at your copy of the owner's manual to verify this.
The perfect option for a cost-effective but quality hitch is the Curt E16 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch w/ R16 Roller # 16516 because it has a pivoting head to help make connecting your trailer easier and a slider that will be very smooth when you are making tight turns.
To mount the E16 in your '08 Silverado you will need the Curt Custom Fifth Wheel Installation Kit for Chevy/GMC # C16418-204 which does not require drilling into your truck's frame to install so it's good for your truck while also cutting down on your installation time. Finally, if you need 5th wheel wiring and your truck has the factory 7-way, the correct harness is the 5th Wheel/Gooseneck 90-Degree Wiring Harness w/ 7-Pole Plug # 50-97-410.
I've added links to a number of video reviews for you to check out as well.
