Cargo Carrier With Locks to Secure Carrier and Cargo for a 2018 Subaru Outback Wagon 1-1/4 Hitch
Question:
I am researching and trying to decide which carrier to purchase for my 2018 Subaru Outback with a 1.25inch hitch, and one of my requirements is lockability - both to the car and then somehow lock the items to the carrier. How do these lock cores work with a hitch cargo carrier? I cant find any info or demonstrations of how it might work. Thanks!

Expert Reply:
With your 1-1/4" hitch, you are limited to typical cargo carriesr like the 20x47 Reese Cargo Carrier # 63155 then the only kind of lock that will work for both the carrier and your cargo is a combination hitch pin and cable lock set like the lock # HRLHPC2.
We don't have any enclosed carriers that will work with you hitch.
There are 2" hitches available for your vehicle. If you are willing to upgrade, then you could use an enclosed carrier like the Yakima EVO Swinging Enclosed Cargo Carrier for 2" Trailer Hitch # Y62VR. It has a lock for the container and a lock to secure the container to the frame. You can add a hitch pin lock with part # Y07235.
