Will Hollywood Racks TRS Block Backup Sensors and Camera on a 2017 Subaru Outback
Question:
We have the 2017 Outback with RAB Rear Assist Braking, etc will I have to disable this feature when the rack is on the car? The sensors are in the lower part of the bumper. Not a deal breaker, but Im curious. Also, other than bike interference, does the rack itself block the rear camera to the point it is unusable or? Want to toss in the fact that your site is awesome. I used your video to install a Curt hitch on our Suby and it went off without a hitch had to write it - Thanks

Since the sensors on your 2017 Subaru Outback Wagon are close to where the Hollywood Racks TRS 2-Bike Platform Rack # HR3000 will be located you will likely need to disable them, but we haven't really tested the racks with sensors on our end as of yet (June 2019).
As far as camera interference goes, since the arms of the TRS fold in between the trays it is pretty much guaranteed to limit your view if not block it completely. For a similar bike rack that gives you a better chance at using your camera I recommend the Kuat Transfer # KU74FR. The Transfer doesn't utilize trays that extend the length of the carrier so you just have the arms to worry about. I have attached a dimensional photo of this rack when it is in the folded position. The Transfer is compatible with both 1-1/4" and 2" receivers. The only down side to this rack over the TRS is that it has a 40 lb per bike weight capacity which is 10 lbs less per bike compared to the TRS.
