Platform Bike Rack for Heavy Electric Bikes Carried on Class C Motorhome with Rear Slide-Out
Question:
This may be a tricky one...we have two e-bikes that have somewhat low step-throughs and fenders 50 lbs each. We would like to rack them on our 24’ Winnebago View rv that has a rear slide out. We currently have a Yakima swing away rack, but they do not fit very well and it is very difficult to get them on the rack. It is also hard on our backs and my husband just had back surgery. We have 2” receivers on both the front and back of the RV. Is there anything that fits the bill for our situation? Thank you!!

Since your Winnie has both a rear slide-out and a front-mounted 2-inch receiver your best option for transporting your two heavier step-thru e-bikes is the Thule EasyFold hitch platform carrier # TH903202. Using the front hitch means the rear slide-out's position will never be a concern and since the EasyFold is designed with heavier electric bikes in mind it will work perfectly even with your low step-thru frames.
The EasyFold handles bikes up to 65-lbs each and its adjustable multi-fit clamp can attach to a bike's seat post or frame tube, whichever provides the easiest fit on any given bike. In addition, it is packed with user-friendly features that make using it a breeze. Some of these are compatibility with wide tires (up to 3-inches), moderate 45-lb weight and built-in wheels so that handling the rack is easy and best of all a built-in loading ramp so you don't even have to lift the bikes to load them. It also fits both 1-1/4-inch and 2-inch hitches.
The Swagman Escapee # S64693 is a good carrier but is not the best choice for bikes with fenders since it is a wheel-mount type rack that secures the bike at the front tire.
