Recommended Adjustable Ball Mount for Bike Rack and Hitch Ball Drop Compatibility
Question:
Hi. I understand that towing a trailer and having a dual attachment for a bike rack would best be accomplished using #D210 by Curt. But what if I need 1-1/2 to 2 more inches of drop ? What do you recommend i use to gain the extra necessary to get a level tow?

There are a few options like using the Malone Dual Hitch Extender for 2" Trailer Hitches # MPG544 but those options are dependent on the tongue weight of your trailer as well as the tongue weight rating of your hitch. For instance this dual hitch extender has a max capacity of 400 lbs tongue weight so it is great for a small trailer but if your hitch is rated for 350 lbs tongue weight for instance that would then be reduced by 50% for a maximum of 175 lbs tongue weight including the bike rack and loaded bikes.
The better option, is to use the Gen-Y Adjustable 2-Ball Mount w/ Stacked Receivers - 2" Hitch - 5" Drop/Rise - 10K # 325-GH-414 which will allow you to use your bike rack in one of the receiver slots and then you get to choose from the remaining for the height of your trailer. This comes with the ball mount. The nice aspect of this ball mount is it isn't an adapter and doesn't change the tongue weight of your trailer hitch. It is made very strong and will work perfectly for your application.
