Recommended Trailer Wiring Harness for a 2016 Dodge Grand Caravan
Question:
Hi. My wife and I recently decided to try out the camper life. We purchased a used 2001 Forest River Shamrock M-18. We plan to tow it with a 2016 Dodge Grand Caravan with absolutely no trailer wiring. Can you tell me what wiring I would need to do so?

If your 2001 Forest River Shamrock M-18 does not have electric brakes then all you will need in regards to wiring is a basic 4-way, the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector
Item # C56331 is what I recommend because it is plug and play and the best quality.
If your 2001 Forest River Shamrock M-18 does have electric brakes, then you will need a 7-way as well as a brake controller. For a 7-way, I recommend the Tekonsha OEM Replacement Vehicle Wiring Harness w Brake Controller Adapter part # 22121 which is again almost entirely plug and play and the best quality option for your 2016 Dodge Grand Caravan. This will also then allow you to simply plug in a brake controller for which I recommend using the Tekonsha Primus IQ Trailer Brake Controller part # TK90160.
If you don't already have a trailer hitch on your Grand Caravan, then you will need one and for this I recommend the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver part # 75579 because it has the cleanest look and will be the easiest to install.
