The red wire on the Hopkins needs to connect to the vehicle reverse light circuit; the black wire connects to the reverse light ground. You'll need 2 quick-splice connectors # SWC502905-1.

You can find the reverse light wire by removing a tail light and tracing the wires to that bulb or you can use a circuit tester like # PTW2992 to test the wires (carefully, while a helper shifts the vehicle into reverse with the brake pedal and emergency brake both engaged). This hardwired hookup will activate the camera when you shift the vehicle into reverse.
