Can a Bike Rack Be Used on the Front of a 2008 Ford F-350 While Towing

Question:

I have a 2008 Ford F-350. Im purchasing a front hitch mount and would like to use this bike rack on the front of my truck. We haul a fifth- wheel trailer and cannot use the rear hitch. Is this bike rack sufficiently sturdy to mount on the front of a vehicle?

Yes, the Curt 2 Bike Platform Rack part # C18085 will be sufficient for use on the front of your 2008 Ford F-350 with a front mount trailer hitch. I recommend the Curt Front Mount Trailer Hitch Receiver part # C31008 because it is American made, no drilling is required, and only minor trimming is involved (see photo).

In fact, hitch mounted accessories on the front of the vehicle would actually be more sturdy than those on the rear as the distance from the front axle to the trailer hitch is much less than on the rear. The further the distance between these two points, the more movement will occur which is actually why most bike racks cannot be used on a trailer.

In summary, the Curt 2 Bike Platform Rack will work just fine on the front of your F-350 and you should have very minimal movement. The Curt 2 Bike Platform Rack also has a threaded hitch pin which even further reduces movement.
