Does Factory Brake Controller Need to be Uninstalled to Use Curt Echo Brake Controller
Question:
Will the curt C51180 work with my existing brake controller on my 2016 GMC Sierra 1500 without having to to disconnect anything or do I have to disconnect it some how?

Expert Reply:
That's an excellent question and I reached out to Curt who told me the the factory brake controller on your 2016 GMC Sierra 1500 does NOT need to be uninstalled or disconnected in order for you to use the Curt Echo Mobile Trailer Brake Controller # C51180.
All you need to do is plug the Echo into your 7-way and set it up and the Echo will work, though of course your factory controller will no longer function.
