Why Would a Bulldog Powered-Drive Kit Operate Slowly on a 4000 lb Trailer

Question:

I just put one of these motors on my trailer and is seems to run slow. It has a difficult time lifting and lowering the trailer, the trailer has a tounge weight of just under 4000 lbs.

I spoke with my contact at Bulldog and he said there are a couple things that could be the reason for why the motor is working slower than you expected.

First thing he said was that you need to make sure the motor is wired up with between 10-12 gauge wire. You also want to make sure you have a good ground.

He said you also need to consider the condition of the jack. If it is older and it was difficult to operate manually then it will also be difficult for this motor to raise and lower the jack.
