It sounds like you want to convert the surge brakes on your trailer to be used with an electric over hydraulic actuator. If that is the case then you will need an electric over hydraulic actuator, trailer wiring, breakaway, compatible brake controller, and new trailer coupler. The best electric over hydraulic actuator we offer is the HydraStar Marine Electric Over Hydraulic Actuator. The reason for this is because they tend to last longer and have a quicker response time then their competitors. They are also made here in the USA. If you have drum brakes you can use part # HS381-9066 but if you have disc brakes you will need part # HS381-9067. The great thing about these kits is that they come with the trailer wiring and breakaway so the only other things you will need are a compatible brake controller and new trailer coupler.
For a compatible brake controller, I recommend the Tekonsha Voyager Trailer Brake Controller part # 39510 which has a five year warranty and for a new trailer coupler, I recommend the Fulton 50-Degree A-Frame Coupler part # FE443050303.
