Can Trailer Hitch for 2009 VW Jetta be Used as Brace for Floor Jack
Question:
Given the Curt vs. DrawTite products you offer for this vehicle, are either robust enough to be used as a lift point for the rear end of the vehicle with a hydraulic floor jack? I do most of my own vehicle maintenance and do not have the luxury of a two post lift. Additionally, the rear lift point for this vehicle is quite far underneath and there is already barely enough clearance for my jack to get to it, thus I am concerned that lifting the vehicle rear would become quite a chore with the hitch installed unless I can use the hitch frame itself. Your input is appreciated.

Due to the way the Curt Trailer Hitch # C11474 fits on a 2009 VW Jetta Sedan (note: the Curt does not fit a TDI) - with the crossmember below the bumper fascia - I do not recommend using the hitch as a brace for a hydraulic floor jack.
You may be able to use one of these hitches with a different jack, and I recommend checking out the Powerbuilt Unijack Bottle Jack # ALL620471. This jack has a 6,000 lb capacity and measures 11 inches tall; it can lift 10 inches for a total height of 21 inches. If you have a little over 11 inches from the ground to your axle you can use this jack to do your vehicle maintenance.
I have added a link to a video review of this jack being used for you to take a look at.
