Power To Brake Controller and Trailer Connector on a 2006 Chevy Silverado 2500 Cut Out

Question:

Hello, i have a 2006 chev 2500hd with tow package, last night i installed the tekonsha p3 controller, plugged it into the proper spot on fuse panel, i noted it power up briefly while truck was off, then went out. i turned key on and no power is coming to the module. incidentally , when i plug my trailer into the truck, all marker lights, signal lights work, but there is no power to the trailer to open slides and other items. i checked the appropiate fuse under the hood and it looks good, however i havent tested it yet, any suggestions?

The power for the brake controller and trailer connector on your 2006 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD is feed from two studs on the power distribution center (PDC) which is located under your hood, in the engine bay. The only thing that I can think of as to why both the power for the brake controller and trailer connector suddenly went out assuming there were no blown fuses is if the ring terminals on these studs somehow came loose. Therefore, you will want to check the flange nuts on both of these terminals to make sure they are securely attached. I have attached a photo of this process for you as well.

The only other option I have for you would be to just run your own power wire to the brake controller and trailer connector with part # 10-1-1 and part # DW05705-1.
