Adapter for Class 1 Trailer Hitch With 1-1/4 Inch Receiver to Use Thule Bike Rack

Which 1 1/4 x 2 inch adapter would you recommend for this class 1 hitch to use a thule 2 bike T 2 rack

The only 1-1/4" to 2" adapter that will work with the Class 1 Curt Trailer Hitch # C11000 that fits your 2012 VW Golf is the Brophy Hitch Adapter 1-1/4" to 2" Trailer Hitch Receiver # HTAD.
It is important to note that a hitch adapter will reduce the capacity of your hitch by 50 percent, which means the 200 lb tongue weight capacity of the Curt Hitch # C11000 becomes 100 lbs when using an adapter. That matters because if you are using the Thule T2 Pro XTR # TH83JV, for example, it weighs 52 lbs and you will only have another 48 lbs of capacity for your bikes.
Additionally, I do want to mention that using an adapter may void your warranty, which is why we always recommend using bike racks that are designed for use in Class I, 1-1/4" hitches, which for a Thule T2 would be the Thule T2 Pro XTR # TH23JV.
