Connecting 4-Way Trailer Connector on Tow Vehicle to 5-Way on Boat Trailer
Question:
just bought a boat with 5 way flat wiring connector - trailer has surge brakes - do you have a connector I can plug into current vehicle wiring - it has a 4 way on it now and I need to switch it out

Your best and easiest option is to simply use the Tow Ready Adapter # 20036 on your vehicle. This will plug right into its existing 4-Way to provide a 5-Way at the other end that will connect to your new boat trailer. The additional blue wire coming from the adapter will need to be spliced into the reverse light circuit wire on the vehicle to activate the reverse lockout on the trailer.
I recommend using a circuit tester like # PTW2993 to find the correct wire at the rear of the vehicle for this connection. I have attached a sample install video that you can also use for reference.
