How To Connect 4-Way on 2005 Honda Odyssey to 6-Way Square on 2009 Palomino Pop-Up Camper

Question:

Recently purchased a 2009 Palomino with a 6 square connector, this trailer does not have brakes but does have a battery that would charge. This seems to be the only 4 pin to 6 square connector I can find and reading most of the questions it will not work. What is my next step to making this happen, and have my battery charge? thanks,

I would recommend switching the current 6-way square connector on your camper out for a 6-way round connector like the Pollak 6 Pole Round # PK11604. Then, you would need to install a 6 and 4 Way Installation Kit # ETBC6 on your 2005 Honda Odyssey.

The # ETBC6 includes a 4-pole to 6-way adapter. The adapter would plug into the existing 4-way on your Honda Odyssey. The kit contains wiring, circuit breakers, connectors and even zip ties to complete the installation.

Then, you will need to connect the additional wires. The White wire should be connected to a clean metal surface on the vehicle frame for ground. The remaining wires would connect to a length of the duplex cable included in the install kit. The duplex cable has a white and a black lead. The Black lead would connect to the Black wire from the adapter which supplies accessory 12-volt power to the trailer. The white lead connects to the Blue wire from the adapter, and could later be connected to a brake controller if you install one in the future.

The Duplex cable should be ran under the vehicle to the engine compartment. You will want to avoid any moving or hot parts like suspension or exhaust. The black lead connects to the positive battery terminal via the included 40 amp breaker.

Please note that the Black wire will maintain a charge to the battery on your camper but will not charge a dead battery. You will want to have the battery charged prior to use. To charge your battery before use, I recommend the NOCO Genius Mini # 329-GENIUS5.

I have linked instructions on the 6 and 4 Way Installation Kit # ETBC6. Also linked is an FAQ on wiring.
