Why Do the Dexter E-Z Flex Equalizers Turn Down

Question:

I have 3, 34’ triple axle enclosed car trailers. On the 2 of them that i replaced the equalizers, shackles with this kit, on the front axle, the leaf spring shackle keeps turning upside down every other day. On the old suspension with the cheapy suspension equalizers and shackles, no problem whatsoever. I spent over $1,000 on these 2 kits and now i have this problem. Not much of an upgrade. They were installed correctly, upon specifications. What do you recommend?

I spoke to my contact at Dexter Axle and they informed me that you may have the incorrect kit. There are currently two different E-Z Flex Triple Axle Suspension Kits for triple axle trailers which will depend on axle spacing. For example, if your axles are spaced 33" apart then you will want to use part # K71-656-00 but if your axles are 35" apart then you will want to use part # K71-657-00.

It looks like you have the part # K71-657-00 therefore your axles should be 35" apart center to center. Furthermore, the front leaf spring hanger should be 30.5" from the center leaf spring hanger, the two center leaf spring hangers should be 35" apart center to center, and the middle leaf spring hanger should be 30.5" apart from the rear leaf spring hanger center to center. These measurements are assuming you have 26" long leaf springs.

Please let me know what your axle spacing and leaf spring hangers measurements are and I would be happy to troubleshoot further for you.

My front equalizers are approximately 7 inches long center of bolt to center of bolt and my rear equalizers are 5 5/8 inches long. Will the K71-656-00 kit work? All other measurements seem to be the same.

There's enough flex in the included equalizers that they shouldn't have a problem replacing the size units you mentioned.
