Troubleshooting 12V Power Circuit on 2011 Ford F-350 7-Way

2011 F350 NO 12V POWER AT THE TRAILER CONNECTOR TERM

The first thing to check on your 2011 F-350 that does not have 12V power on the 7-way is the 30-amp trailer tow battery charge fuse in position 21 in the power distribution box under the hood. If you wish you can refer to page 335 of the manual.

If you still do not have power at the 1:00 pin on the 7-way (see photo please) after replacing the fuse you can trace the wire for this circuit starting at the 7-way and running forward. If you have a circuit tester like # PTW2992 you can probe that wire as you move forward. Disconnect the plug at the back of the 7-way and test it; if you have power there then just replace the 7-way with # 74682.

Any connectors along the frame rail could have corrosion or damage and the tester will let you find the point where the power is lost so that you can replace or repair any damaged wire. If you find any corrosion you can try an aerosol electrical contact cleaner like Caig De-Oxit and once the plug contacts are clean apply dielectric grease like # 11755 to keep water out.
