Are the Color Codes on the 5th Wheel/Gooseneck 90-Degree Wiring Harness 51-97-410 Correct
Question:
Started the process of getting it put in today and I noticed that at where the wires from the 7 post for the truck bed are split to go to the two different connections at the rear of the truck the following wires are mis-split/crossed: the yellow is split into two reds the brown is split into two greens the red is split into two yellows the green is split into two browns. Has me kind of worried. I would think that the yellow should be split into two yellows the brown into two browns the red into two reds the green into two greens, but this is not the case. Is this correct wiring? Any help would be greatly appreciated especially since I was planning on buying my 5th wheel trailer this week and this is putting that into jeopardy. Thanks

What you are likely seeing is that the signals are split because a trailer operates on a combined system where stop and turn signal are the same signal. Commonly, the yellow wire carries a left turn and brake light, brown carries taillights, green carries turn signal and brake lights, and red can be 12-volt power or an auxiliary circuit if it is not a dedicated brake signal.
The problem is that the wire colors on the wiring harness do not necessarily mean anything at all. It sounds like the harness you have is wired correctly. If you plug it in and then use a circuit tester, like # PTW2993, to test the pins and it turns out wrong, it will need to be re-pinned correctly or replaced.
