Trailer Hitch and Wiring Recommendations for a 2010 to 2012 Kia Soul
Question:
What size trailer can a kia soul tow and what kind of trailer hitch would be required?

First, you will want to consult the owners manual of your Kia Soul to determine if it can be used for towing. Some vehicles can have a trailer hitch, but only use it with something like a bike rack. The owners manual should have the specifics on the capabilities of your vehicle.
On a 2010 to 2012 Kia Soul, there are a couple trailer hitch options. If you determine it can be used for towing I recommend the Draw-Tite #24839. It comes with a hitch pin, and clip. You would need to add a ball mount and ball, # 19256 for a 1-7/8 inch diameter or # 19258 for a 2 inch diameter.
For trailer wiring use # 118431. I have included links to the installation details for the hitch and wiring.
This is a Class I trailer hitch rated for 2,000 pounds gross trailer weight and 200 pounds tongue weight. However, if the vehicle owners manual says that it can be used for towing but the ratings are lower than the hitch you must go by the lower rating.
