Will the RockyMounts TomaHawk Work with the Rhino-Rack Vortex Crossbar System

Question:

Am I able to add a different brand bike rack to the RhinoRack Vortex Crossbars or does it require RhinoRack brand bike racks? I was looking specifically at the Rocky Mount Tomahawks. Or maybe the Thule sidearm mount bike rack. It is hard to tell what channel is on both the crossbar and the carrier itself. Thanks for the help.

Yes, you can use a different brand of bike rack like the RockyMounts TomaHawk Roof Bike Rack part # RKY1222 or the Thule SideArm 594XT with the Rhino-Rack Vortex Crossbar System. The reason for this is because the Rhino-Rack Vortex Crossbar System uses a standard 3-1/8" wide x 1-3/16" tall crossbar that will be compatible with pretty much any rooftop accessory that works with aero crossbars whether that be from Yakima, Rola, or in this case RockyMounts and Thule. The only disadvantage of using a different brand for the bike rack is that you lose the ability to match the locks (if equipped).

The RockyMounts TomaHawk and Thule SideArm attach using wraparound clamps so the integrated channel is not used but even if you were to use an accessory that utilizes the channel, you would not have any issues here either as the channels are all relatively the same between Thule, Yakima, Rhino-Rack, etc.
