Dual Hitch Adapter for Leprechaun Motorhome to Allow Use of Cargo and Bike Carriers

Question:

Can you tell me the distance fron the pin hole to the rear of receivers. I have 7 inches from center pin hole to rear of my RV bumper so hitch shank needs to be 7in length to fully in receiver. Trying to use a hitch hauler with a bike rack above it Thanks

You can use the Malone Dual Purpose Hitch Receiver # MPG544 to hold your cargo carrier and bike rack. You'll note that the photo shows it offers enough clearance for your application. Do note that like all such adapters it will reduce your hitch capacity by 50%. So if your hitch has a tongue weight rating of 600-lbs, then its capacity drops to 300-lbs with the adapter. The total combined weight of the carriers themselves and the items loaded on them needs to be within the hitch capacity.

Since you are operating a motorhome you'll need to be certain that the accessory cargo and bike carriers you use are rated for motorhomes. Not all carriers can be used on motorhomes or trailers because there is typically a lot more motion at the back of such vehicles. The increased motion comes about from the greater distance between the rear axle and the hitch opening.

If your bike rack is not RV rated you can refer to the linked page to see carriers that are rated for motorhome use.
