Recommended Tow Bar for Blue Ox Base Plate Kit on a 2013 Jeep Wrangler

Question:

We have to choose between these two tow bars. Both are rated at 10,000 lbs Vehicle being towed is a 2013 Jeep Wrangler The Blue Ox is $500.00 more but has 3 more degrees of turn radius Is the extra 3 degrees worth $500.00? Thanks

I'm not quite sure where you found a difference of $500 dollars between the (discontinued) Blue Ox Aventa LX Tow Bar BX7445 and the Blue Ox Avail Tow Bar # BX7420 but my guess would be that since the Aventa LX has been discontinued that it is at a much lower price-point. It was a good tow bar but definitely not priced that much lower than the Avail.

Personally out of the two I recommend going with the Avail because it is still being made and you can have confidence that you are more likely to have any replacement parts years down the road.

If you are looking for a bit of a deal then I highly recommend going with the Demco Excali-Bar III Tow Bar # DM9511013-BX instead of the Blue Ox Avail. This is in part due to the price-point but also the fact that the Excali-Bar is rated for up to 10,500 lbs and Demco offers a wide variety of adapters for base plate kits. This means that if you ever decide to trade in your current 2013 Jeep Wrangler for a different towed vehicle the odds are in your favor that you wouldn't have to get a different tow bar. This specific part number that I referenced comes with adapters for Blue Ox base plate kits so you know it will fit what you already have.

Please note that a complete flat towing setup also includes vehicle tow bar wiring, a supplemental braking system, and possibly a high-low adapter. If you do not have all of these components just let me know and I can make some additional recommendations for you.
