Can the Electric Jack w/ Footplate Be Immersed in Water
Question:
As long as motor head stays dry, how durable would jack be if lower part gets immersed in fresh water ?

Helpful Expert Reply:
The footplate on the Electric Jack w/ Footplate part # EJ-3520-BBX has a zinc coating which is corrosion resistant and will withstand use in fresh water but I cannot exactly recommend that you use the jack while immersed. There is also a chance for rust to form inside the outer tube which could then affect the ability of the inner leg to retract/extend over time. This will be the case for pretty much all trailer jacks. In short, they can withstand exposure to water but they are not really designed to be immersed. If you do decide to use the jack while immersed in water then make sure to keep a good coat of grease on the inner tube.
