Correct Tie Rod Bracket and Stabilizer Orientation for Roadmaster Reflex Steering Stabilizer
Question:
I noticed that your installation video and the written instructions that come from Roadmaster conflict in two areas. Your video says to connect the spring end of the RSSA to the chassis bracket. The Roadmaster instructions have the sprig end connected to the tie rod bracket. Also, the video shows the tie rod bracket mounted on top of the tie rod, with the U-bolts going under the tie rod. The written instructions have the tie rod bracket underneath the tie rod, and U-bolts going over the top. On both points, which is correct, or does it matter? Thank you.

I spoke with my contact at Roadmaster regarding the Reflex Steering Stabilizer with Mounting Brackets # RM-RBK22-RSSA.
She said that both with regards to installation and function, the orientation of the tie rod bracket does not matter. The bracket can be mounted to the bottom of the tie rod (with the u-bolts going around the top) or to the top of the tie rod with the u-bolts going around the underside and it will work perfectly either way. She did say that it is typically easier to have the brackets on the bottom as pictured in their installation manual so this is why they show this orientation.
She said that the same goes for the connection of the stabilizer bar to the brackets. The exposed/shock end of the bar typically gets attached to the chassis bracket and the spring end goes to the tie rod bracket but this can be reversed without affecting function at all. Attaching the spring end to the tie rod bracket usually allows for more clearance which is why they recommend this route.
