Can Trailer Brakes be Added to Time Out Motorcycle Trailer

Question:

Hi Etrailer folks. I wanted to see if you might have any familiarity with the Time Out campers that are traditionally pulled by motorycles. It takes a 4.80x4 tire, and some folks have said that 7inch electric brake kits might work, but I wanted to run it by you guys first to see if you had put something together for them. Id like a solution that is a bit more financially reasonable than the $600 time out charges for the electric brake kits. Thanks for any info you might be able to provide.

I wish I could say we've had direct experience adding brakes to your trailer but at this time we have not nor has anyone requested help from us to do so. That said, I am sure we can help add brakes to the trailer but I was not able to find the Time Out brake kit you mentioned so it's harder for me to know exactly what their kit consists of to give you our equivalent.

I did attach a guide to this page that will walk you through the entire process of adding brakes to an axle like yours. First thing is to make sure you have a brake mounting flange on the spindles of the axles and make sure the spindles are standard size for replacing the hubs on. They should be but you want to verify this also so we can pick out the correct hubs. Also I'll need to know the bolt pattern of the wheels on your trailer too so that we go with hubs that will fit the wheels. Most likely it's 4 on 4 inch, but I attached a help article on determining bolt patterns as well.
